From Art for Sale to Art for Service

I began my journey as an artist rather late in life, but eager to share my newfound perspective and creativity with the world. Initially, I wanted to create mosaic pieces that would captivate viewers and, hopefully, fetch a price tag. I devoted myself to my craft, honing my skills, and perfecting my techniques to create visually stunning mosaic pieces. While the artistic process was deeply fulfilling, there quickly came a point when I felt that something was missing – that there was more to my purpose than selling pretty mosaic pictures.

The Shift: Finding Purpose in Service

Reflecting on my creative journey, I realize that art can be more than just beautiful objects to be purchased, collected and displayed. Recently I received a touching note from a customer who shared with me how the mosaic I made of her recently deceased dog had touched her heart, bringing so much healing into her grieving process that she “ .. was able to finally get rid of Yaya’s dog beds.” By hanging my mosaic portrait of him on her wall, she now felt her dog’s spirit there with her. From her note and from reading lots of other similar client feedback like this, I understand how my creative talent makes a positive impact on others, beyond confines of the sales process. Art has an inherent power to communicate emotions, stories, and messages that resonate with people on a profound level.

A Fulfilling Journey

I have discovered the therapeutic potential of art and its ability to heal. Participating in that potential gives me with a sense of fulfillment and purpose. What began as a pursuit of personal expression, for me has blossomed into a meaningful journey of service and healing.

I’ve learned that through my art, I have a unique ability to touch hearts and inspire action. Embracing the transformative power of art for service is a deeply enriching endeavor- one that not only impacts others but also brings new dimensions of purpose to my own creative pursuits.
